Psalm 19, verse 1 reminds us,
Keep this verse in mind as you view the recent gift from the Earl Montgomery family, as you will see a church steeple on Ashford’s sanctuary silhouetted against the backdrop of the beautiful west Houston sky. Because of the generosity of Stella Montgomery and her family, as well as the tireless efforts of Larry Thyssen, David Miller and Jim Keesling, we will all enjoy this beautiful addition to our church. The steeple first began as an idea envisioned by Stella, who proposed it to the board of trustees, who gave their overwhelming approval. Larry immediately took up the challenge and worked with Stella and the trustees to find a design to complement the church architecture.
The fiberglass steeple, manufactured by Fiberglass Specialties, Inc., out of Henderson, Texas has a steel frame to provide strength and stability, with a cross mounted on the top. Larry facilitated the project, with David providing the engineering and Jim furnishing the lighting. Ashford United Methodist Church is so blessed to have the Montgomery family and these good men to use their talents to erect this beacon on our church. May its light and visibility open hearts, open minds and open doors for all those that thirst for salvation! |
