MISSION:  Continued improvements to the school
in the rural village of Bongo in the Chiriqui Province of Panama

On previous trips a three-room annex to the Church in Bongo was built. A kitchen and dining room were added last summer. The annex is being used for adult education (within a forty-mile radius there are no educational opportunities past sixth grade).

The plan for 2009 is to complete restrooms for the rural school
in Bongo and do some painting and roofing.

It is exciting to see the community’s enthusiastic support for these projects!

The Bongo United Methodist Church, established by missionaries in 1920, was the first Methodist church in Panama.

Our 2009 Palm Sunday and Easter Services were wonderful, and we give praise to the Lord, with special thanks to the members of the Altar Guild, the Jubilant Bells, the Ashford UMC Choir and Children's Choir and our choir director, Nancy Taylor Ginsburg, Ron Mackey (organ and piano music) and everyone else who helps to make our worship service as special as they always are.

If by Rudyard Kipling PDF Print E-mail

Pastor David mentioned a poem called IF by Rudyard Kipling during last Sunday's service.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
