1996 began with a loss as Dr.
Bruce Wood was called by the Conference back to College Station to help a
troubled church. (click on the photo below to read Dr. Wood's memory

Our loss was made much easier to take, however, as we
welcomed our new pastor Dr. Richard White, his wife Leticia and daughters
Rebecca, Meggie and Katie.
Dr. White quickly entrenched himself, the
staff, and the church leaders into a deeper commitment toward growing our
church and spreading the Gospel.
The year gave us 61 new members, 11
baptisms, and an AUMC record 295 average Sunday worship attendance. Over
100 children attended Vacation Bible School, led by some 50 volunteers!
A
new event during the Summer was a country-western dance and chili supper held in
fellowship hall. After dinner a pair of professional dance instructors
soon has us two-stepping to the country tunes.
Later in the year we began
a new weight loss ministry. The "Weigh Down Workshop" set the
goal of losing weight by concentrating on scriptures and encouraging each other
with twice weekly meetings. The year ended with distribution of a
pictorial directory.
